CHART 2: Since 1984, an average of 168 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds have been banded annually at Hilton Pond Center for Piedmont Natural History near York, South Carolina USA; the highest year was 2005 with 226 new RTHU; an unexplained "crash" occurred during the following year.

Partial field seasons (light blue columns) resulted from the bander being involved in field work at other locations. The red line indicates a slight but steady rise in the average number of RTHUs banded over the 23-year span.
