CHART 3: In 23 years (1984-2006) of banding Ruby-throated Hummingbirds at Hilton Pond Center for Piedmont Natural History near York, South Carolina USA, almost half of all birds captured have been recently fledged (Hatch-year) males. The smallest class is adult males, meaning there is "overproduction" and heavy die-off of males in this species. |
