This section contains fun activities that also contain lots of solid information about Ruby-throated Hummingbird (Archilochus colubris). Most can be used as supplemental materials for classroom instruction or as rainy day enrichment activities. Many are cross-disciplinary in nature, and some require students to do some heavy thinking. All the answers to the quizzes and puzzles can be derived directly or indirectly from information found on the Operation RubyThroat website; solutions are provided on linked pages.
After solving these quizzes and puzzles, encourage students to create their own to reinforce their understanding of the concepts and vocabulary associated with hummingbird study.
